Video documentary in three parts : Part I: Champagne – 1829-1969 (86') – The story of expansion Part II: Fuddle – 1969–1986 (81') – The story of revolt and economic crisis Part III: Hangover – 1986-1997 (83') – The story of deception and idle hope. When the last ship was finished at the Boelwerf Temse shipyard, the shipbuilding industry in Belgium came to an end. The documentary tells the history of this industry from the beginning (small wooden boats) to the end (sophisticated oil tankers). The saga is first of all a portrait of a socio-economic history. From confidence in unlimited growth, the story goes to doubts and revolt. At the end, we are left with a question : isn't our economic system a ship adrift ? Why should we accept the devaluation of the quality of our labour ?

Un documentaire vidéo en trois parties: Partie 1 : Champagne -1829-1969 (86') – l’histoire de l’expansion. Partie 2 : L’enivrement – 1969–1986 (81')- L’histoire de la révolte et de la crise économique. Partie 3 : L’héritage – 1986-1997 (83') – l’histoire de la déception et de l’espérance vaine. Lorsque le dernier navire fut terminé au chantier naval de Boelwerf Temse, l’industrie de construction navale en Belgique pris fin. Le documentaire raconte l’histoire de cette industrie de ses débuts (petit bateaux en bois) jusqu’à sa fin (pétroliers sophistiqués).  La saga est avant tout le portrait d’une histoire socio-économique. De la croyance en une croissance illimitée, l’histoire va vers les doutes et la révolte. A la fin, une question subsiste : notre économie ne serait-elle pas un bateau à la dérive ? Pourquoi devrions-nous accepter la dévalorisation de la qualité de notre travail ?
