EN - A man is being robbed and stabbed by a junkie and in the last second before he dies, a youth friendship flashes before his eyes. He and his bosomfriend grew apart, when the latter was being drawn more and more into a misty world of drugs and criminality under influence of a lowlife dealer who lives with his father on the junkyard in their neighbourhood.

Junkyard wins Best Independent Short Animation
Short animation Junkyard by Hisko Hulsing has won the Nelvana Grand Prize for Best Independent Short Animation at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF, 19-23 September). The animation festival is the largest event of its kind in North America.
Junkyard had its international premiere last June at the Annecy International Animation Festival. Recently the film was also selected as the Dutch submission for the Academy Awards Best Animated Shorts category. Meanwhile, the short has been confirmed for festivals such as the Fantoche International Animation Film Festival in Switzerland, BFI London Film Festival in the UK and Göteborg International Film Festival in Sweden.
Shorts Willy and Junkyard to compete at Annecy
Hisko Hulsing’s Junkyard and Oh Willy… by artisan animators Emma De Swaef and Marc Roels have been added to the Short Films section at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (4-9 June). In addition, a commercial clip for public transport company De Lijn by digital effects artist Gerrit Bekers was selected for the Commercials competition of the French festival.
Oh Willy… is directed by Emma De Swaef and Marc Roels who developed their distinctive style with Zachte Planten, De Swaef's graduation film from the Sint-Lukas academy in Brussels. The 17-minute film is produced by Ben Tesseur for Flemish stop- motion studio Beast Animation (A Town Called Panic), in collaboration with France and the Netherlands. Before making the Annecy bill, Oh Willy… premiered internationally at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in January.
