Desperate Walloon filmmaker wants to become Flemish

After being robbed by con artist Gary Wilson-Flood, young Walloon filmmaker Jean-Baptiste Dumont is back with a new adventure: he wants to become Flemish! As he believes that the end of Belgium is near, and that Flanders – he claims – is the country’s only region with a future, he’s desperate to settle down there. His progress can be followed in an eight-part docusoap, Jean Becomes a Fleming (Jean wordt Vlaming), on the Acht network.

Jean Becomes FlemingOver the course of eight weeks, Dumont wants to improve his Dutch, but also wants to dress himself as a dyed-in-the-wool Fleming, eat Flemish cuisine, relax and entertain himself the Flemish way, etc. In order to succeed, he asks not only people on the street, but also fans on Facebook and viewers for their advice. During the show, he also visits Flemish celebrities and asks them what makes a true Fleming.
