Hollywood aan de Schelde is Robbe De Hert's long-anticipated documentary about the history of Flemish film.

synopsis

Over the years Robbe De Hert and his team have interviewed numerous prominent personalities from the film world: upcoming talents such as Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, established names such as Erik Van Looy and Jan Verheyen, but also long deceased legends like Hugo Claus, Bobbejaan Schoepen and André Delvaux. These interviews are interspersed with unique archive footage, clips from nearly 100 years of Flemish films and recordings made on film sets and premieres.
Narrated by Michaël Pas, the film explores Flemish film history: the successful neighbourhood cinemas, the first Flemish films and the success stories of Jan Verheyen, Stijn Coninx and Lukas Dhont. At the same time, the film is a personal statement by De Hert about Belgian film and gives an impression of the material (more than 200 hours of film!) that he has ever made or discovered on this subject.
Hollywood aan de Schelde is Robbe De Herts langverwachte documentaire over de geschiedenis van de Vlaamse film. Door de jaren heen interviewden hij en zijn team tal van prominenten uit de filmwereld: nieuwe generaties als Adil El Arbi en Bilall Fallah, gevestigde waarden als Erik Van Looy en Jan Verheyen, maar ook lang overleden groten als Hugo Claus, Bobbejaan Schoepen en André Delvaux. Die interviews worden afgewisseld met unieke archiefbeelden, fragmenten uit bijna 100 jaar Vlaamse films en opnames op filmsets en premières.
Hollywood aan de Schelde brengt het indrukwekkende verhaal, verteld door Michaël Pas, van de Vlaamse filmgeschiedenis: van de succesvolle buurtbioscopen over de eerste Vlaamse films tot de succesverhalen van Jan Verheyen, Stijn Coninx en Lukas Dhont. Tegelijk is de film een persoonlijk statement van Robbe De Hert over de Belgische film en geeft hij een indruk van het materiaal (meer dan 200 uur film!) dat hij ooit gemaakt of ontdekt heeft over dit onderwerp.
