synopsis

Sammy's Adventures - The Secret Passage is the story of a sea turtle from hatchling to maturity. Only one in a 1,000 turtles makes it to adulthood, but for Sammy the odds seem even worse. About half the size of the other hatchlings, he can barely make it out of his nest alone. It takes a sea turtle 30 to 50 years to reach maturity, at which point they return to the beach where they were born to reproduce. This epic journey starts in 1959 and Sammy spends the first 10 years of his life drifting on the ocean currents with his friend Ray. Hurt in a fishing incident, he is picked up by a small boy and spends several months as the mascot of a hippie commune on a Californian beach. He then decides to travel the world looking for a girlfriend from his childhood years...
Le voyage extraordinaire de Sammy est l’histoire d’une tortue de mer atteignant la maturité. Une seule tortue sur mille atteint l’âge adulte. Mais pour Sammy, le personnage principal, les statistiques sont pires encore. Ayant la moitié de la taille des autres petites tortues, il sait à peine sortir seul de son nid. Une tortue de mer met 30 à 50 ans pour atteindre la maturité, moment auquel elle retourne sur la plage où elle est née pour se reproduire. Cette épopée pleine d’humour débute en 1959 et se termine aujourd’hui. Sammy passe les 10 premières années de sa vie en flottant sur les courants de l’océan avec son ami Ray. Blessé suite à un accident de pêche, il est recueilli par un petit garçon et passe plusieurs mois en tant que la mascotte d’une communauté de hippies sur une plage en Californie. Il décide alors de voyager à travers le monde à la recherche d’une petite amie d'enfance. Pleine de rebondissements, d’action et de drames, l’histoire transmet un message sous-jacent sur notre planète et l’importance de protéger notre environnement.
