When exiled to Belgium, Iraqi singer Salma is forced to come to terms with reality.

synopsis

Salma, a famous Iraqi singer, is forced to leave her native country and ends up in a refugee centre in Belgium. She still behaves like a diva, but when she meets fellow refugee Hassan she is confronted with reality: the beautiful voice which once protected her in Iraq is destroyed and she remains suspended between present-day reality and poetic dreams of Iraq.
Salma, une chanteuse irakienne célèbre, est contrainte de quitter son pays natal. Elle finit dans un centre pour demandeurs d’asile en Belgique, Europe. Elle continue à se comporter comme une diva, mais lorsqu’elle rencontre Hassan, un jeune réfugié irakien, elle se trouve confrontée aux choses réelles. Sa voix magnifique qui la protégeait et l’élevait au-dessus de la réalité en Irak pendant toutes ces années est bouleversée. La vie de Salma oscille aujourd’hui entre la réalité du centre pour demandeurs d’asile et ses pensées poétiques dans les déserts de l’Irak.
