Dirty Mind wins two awards at Cinémascience
Dirty Mind by Pieter Van Hees has grabbed both the Jury Grand Prix and the Prix du Jury des Jeunes Rechercheurs at the second Bordeaux Cinémascience Festival (1-6 December).
Cinémascience aims to enliven people’s interests in science by being a meeting place for imagination, science and cinema. The head of the scientific jury, Denis Sergent, commended Dirty Mind on its interesting and comic approach to a serious subject. James Huth, head of the professional jury, described the film along similar lines as “funny and intelligent, with great actors and an unique script”. In Dirty Mind, Shy Diego struggles with low self-esteem, until he has a serious accident and wakes up as Tony T, a totally uninhibited, smooth-talking stuntman. A typical case of Frontal Syndrome and the ideal case study for young and ambitious neurologist Jaana. Everybody hopes that Diego will make a quick recovery. Everybody except Diego, that is. The film’s Flemish producers are Bert Hamelinck, Kato Maes and Frank Van Passel. Recently, one of Pieter Van Hees’s previous projects, Left Bank, also won the award for Best film at the 18th Fantastic Film Festival (Fancine) in Malaga (18-26 November).
