Dossier K box office hit
Jan Verheyen’s Dossier K, the highly anticipated follow-up to Erik Van Looy’s 2003 The Alzheimer Case (Memory of a Killer) has passed the 200,000 admissions mark after its second week of release. The film even enjoyed a 46% rise in admissions in week two, which – kids' fare aside – is the strongest rise among the films currently on release in Belgium.
The Alzheimer Case, which stars Koen de Bouw, Werner De Smedt, Blerim Destani and Hilde De Baerdemaeker, won numerous awards and sold to over 30 countries, including the US, where it was released through Sony Pictures Classics. Based on a novel by Jef Geeraerts, the film is a European crime thriller about passion, betrayal, revenge, blind ambition and the inevitability of fate. Set against the realistic background of the Albanian mafia in Antwerp, the story brings the main characters Erik Vincke and Freddy Verstuyft into a disastrous vortex from which no one seems to escape. Dossier K will get its international market debut at the Berlinale’s European Film Market (EFM) in February. The film is produced by Eyeworks Film & TV Drama.
