Treecreeper & Made-up at Annecy
Dries Bastiaensens’ Treecreeper and Made-up by Mirjam Plettinx, both graduation projects from the KASK and St Lukas film academies respectively, are to be shown at this year's 50th Annecy International Animation Fest (7-12 June). The films screen in the Graduation Films category, where they are among the 50-title strong selection.
In Treecreeper a man observes birds while listening to old tapes of bird songs. The flim's maturity has already been recognised at the Anima festival in Brussels, where the director picked up the TVpaint award for Best Belgian Student Film. In Made-up, a girl attempts to be someone else but eventually loses herself – literally.
The 50th Annecy International Animation Festival presents 213 films selected from well over 2,000 submissions. The Graduation Films jury consists of Peter de Sève (Ice Age, Finding Nemo), Nick Park (Wallace & Grommit) and Argentine filmmaker Juan Pablo Zaramella (Lapsus).
