Memee on festival tour
Evelyn Verschoore’s animated short Memee is set to hit the road for a series of international film fests. The film has already been confirmed for – in chronological order – the International Animation Festivals of Brazil (16 July-1 September), Hiroshima (7-11 August) and Fantoche (7-12 September).
Memee started its career at the Anima film festival in Brussels earlier this year. Anima awarded the film with the Audience Award for Best Belgian short and it received a special mention from the jury for its 'recognisability and high quality sense of humour.’ After its Belgian premiere, the film quickly set out to establish an international reputation. In Memee we discover an old people’s home on a hill. In one of the many rooms lives Memee, surrounded by family pictures. As she looks out of her window, she sees a little house with a smoking chimney. It is the home of a saxophonist. He plays, smokes, and makes Memee's heart beat a little faster. Memee is produced by Barend Weyens for Cinnamon Entertainment.
