In Paris, the fourth edition of the Séries Mania Festival (22-28 April) has taken off showcasing three television series from Flanders. Deadline 14/10 has been selected for the fest’s public programme, alongside BBC-HBO’s co-production with Flanders, Parade’s End. The series Clan, Quiz Me Quick and – again – Deadline 14/10 were added to the professional programme of Séries Mania.

ClanDeadline 14/10 is screening in the World Programme of the festival, showing the public some 15 series from all over the world. Creativity and originality take centre stage in this section. Menuet’s eight-part political thriller Deadline 14/10, which has been confirmed for a second season already, follows journalist Marianne Smidt who is determined to find back 14-year-old Lena who goes missing eight weeks before the local elections in Antwerp.

Parade’s End is also presented to the audience in Paris, along with eight other British series. A miniseries about love and betrayal set against the dying years of the Edwardian era and the first World War, Parade’s End was partly shot in Flanders and was co-produced by Martin Dewitte for Anchorage Entertainment.

Furthermore Clan, Deadline 14/10 as well as Quiz Me Quick were selected for the ‘Vitrine’-section. This professional programme of the festival puts international creations in the spotlight for attending professionals, allowing them to screen series à la carte.

Since 2010, Séries Mania is been organised each year by the Forum des Images in Paris, one of the local hotspots for film fans. Last year, Flemish fiction was equally represented with Jan Eelen’s The Tour. Double Life, The Divine Monster and Old Belgium were part of the professional curriculum then.

Rudy Morren, Dirk Nielandt, Nicholas Roelandts and Pieter-Jan Verachtert wrote the script for Deadline 14/10. Directed by Maarten Moerkerke it’s a production presented by Menuet, currently filming In Flanders Fields. Malin-Sarah Gozin and Bert Van Dael were responsible for the scenario of Clan, a Caviar production. Nathalie Basteyns and Kaat Beels stood behind the camera. Helmed by Jan Matthys after a script by Bart De Pauw, Koeken Troef produced Quiz Me Quick. All this year’s selected series received support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund/Media Fund of Flemish Minister of Media Ingrid Lieten.
