Perfect Drug by Toon Aerts has been selected for international competition at the 35th International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand (1-9 February 2013). The daring short had its world premiere at the Leuven International Film Festival late last year.

Still from Toon Aerts's short Perfect DrugDirector Toon Aerts describes his short as ‘a hybrid of styles and genres. […] At the same time I tried to make it a short film with a very universal feel to it. Hard to pinpoint both in time and place, the setting and vibe of this film is like a collage of styles.’

In Perfect Drug, Misha, Yumiko and Chinatsu are sitting in a parked car in front of a strange motel. In the backseat they have a huge amount of test tubes filled with different substances. It's clear that their attempted burglary didn't go as planned. While Yumiko tries to calm down their Albanian boss Hasan on the phone, Misha can’t resist it any longer. He opens up a test tube and drinks it to the last drop, causing some extraordinary effects…

Koen Mortier and Eurydice Gysel produced the film for Brussels-based production company Epidemic, a division of CCCP. The short film was made with the support of amongst others the Flanders Audiovisual Fund.
