Fien Troch’s fourth feature Home is on the shortlist for the European Film Awards in the category Feature Film. The nominees will be announced on 4 November in Seville and the winners revealed at the awards ceremony in Berlin on 9 December.

HomeHome is the story of a group of youngsters and the adults who surround them. Both find it difficult to communicate and to understand each other’s closed-off worlds. One evening, fate intervenes and questions of betrayal, trust and loyalty start to impact more and more on their daily lives.

Home is Fien Troch’s fourth feature, after Kid, Unspoken, and Someone Else’s Happiness. She wrote the script with Nico Leunen, who also did the editing. Frank Van den Eeden is the DOP, and the soundtrack was composed by Johnny Jewel.

Home had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2016, where it won the Orrizonti Award for Best Director. Among other prizes, the film also picked up the Georges Delerue Award for Best Music at Film Fest Gent and the Grand Jury Award at the International Festival of European Cinema in Les Arcs, as well as being selected for festivals in Toronto, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Bogotá and Lisbon.

Fien Troch will be part of this year’s Orrizonti Jury at the Venice Film Festival.
