Lieven Corthouts’ Little Heaven is to screen at the Good Pitch² Festival at The Hague (27 March). At the fest, eight documentary filmmakers working on human rights and justice projects are invited to present their films to a number of leading broadcasters and NGOs, as well as other participants who might be able to help them spread their work.
Little Heaven is the harrowing tale of an extraordinary orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city. On their thirteenth birthday, children in this particular orphanage are told that they were born with HIV. It is a hard and demanding story, but also a hopeful one, thanks to thezest for life shown by the children’s and their carers. The documentary was produced by Eric Goossens and Frederik Nicolai for Brussels-based Off World (Home & Away, Leaving Mandela Park).
The Good Pitch² Festival brings together leading broadcasters, NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, brands, media and social and technology entrepreneurs to form powerful alliances around documentary films on human rights and social justice and to maximise their social impact and influence. At Good Pitch², each team has to present their film to a roundtable of ten invited representatives and a theatre of up to 150 participants.
The Good Pitch offers a unique opportunity to network, to create a coalitions around each film, and to build partnerships around creative funding strategies, cause marketing, issue advocacy, and public engagement. You can find the full description of the documentary projects here.
