After starting its international career by winning the Cannes International Jury Award in 2011, Wannes Destoop’s short Swimsuit 46 has now been selected for its 30th film festival.

After making waves in Cannes, the film has made appearances at numerous renowned festivals including Athens International Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival. The movie has now been included in the programmes of the Bermuda International Film Festival and the New York International Children's Film Festival, which will mark its 30th festival outing.

Starring Janis Vercaempst, Wim Opbrouck, Kenneth Vanbaeden and Lies Pauwels, Swimsuit 46 tells the story of Chantal, an overweight 12-year-old. Only in the town’s swimming pool does she feel truly happy. But when she is in need of a new pair of swimming goggles, things toughen up and she has to go to great lengths to get them. Swimsuit 46 is Destoop’s graduation project from the KASK Fine Arts Academy in Ghent.
