EN - Climate Chaos in the South is indeed another film about climate change, but this one is about people, not polar bears or glaciers. The victims in the South (Ecuador, Burkina Faso, Togo, Bangladesh) explain how their livelihoods are threatened because the seasons have a mind on their own: downpours and cyclones destroy all that stands, droughts scorch the earth, rising sea levels are reclaiming land and drinking water is sparse. International experts (such as Lord Nicholas Stern, Michael Gorbachev, Pavan Sukhdev and Jean-Pascal van Ypersele) sketch the broader context. What originally appeared to be purely an environmental problem is only the beginning of an unimaginable humanitarian catastrophe. That something has to be done to mitigate climate change is obvious, but that the South will also have to adapt is inevitable. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands leave their home, in search of viable places to live…

FR - Climate Chaos in the South est bien entendu un nouveau film sur le changement climatique, mais celui-ci parle des personnes, et non des ours polaires et des glaciers. Les victimes du Sud (Equateur, Burkina Faso, Togo, Bangladesh) expliquent comment leur moyens du subsistance sont menacés car chaque saison a sa propre fonction, les déluges et cyclones détruisent tout ce qui pousse, la sécheresse rend la terre aride, la mer qui monte fait reculer les terres, et il y a une pénurie d’eau potable. Des experts internationaux (comme Lord Nicholas Stern, Michael Gorbachev, Pavan Sukhdev et Jean-Pascal van Ypersele) étendent la discussion. Ce qui à l’origine ressemble à un problème purement environnemental n’est que le début d’une catastrophe humanitaire inimaginable. Que quelque chose doit être fait pour limiter les changements climatiques est une évidence, mais que le Sud devra aussi s’adapter est une fatalité. Pendant ce temps, des centaines de milliers de personnes quittent leur maison et partent à la recherche d’un environnement plus vivable...
