EN - Sandrine is 19, beautiful and full of life. She works in a supermarket during the day and as a beautician in the evenings. Her boyfriend refuses to stay in the poor village of Montigny where they live and he leaves for Brussels to find himself a job. He begs Sandrine to join him but she won't leave, her heart set on opening her own beauty parlour in Montigny. Sandrine’s mother wants to help her daughter make that dream come true. When a local beauty contest is announced, Anna realises that this is Sandrine’s chance to become a local celebrity and obtain a bank loan for her parlour. Sandrine is reluctant to enter the contest but, much to her surprise, passes the first selection round, winning her way through to the final. Her mother is very enthusiastic but Sandrine soon learns the price she has to pay to become ‘Miss Montigny’.
