Biography

Jan Verheyen is one of Flanders most prolific and versatile filmmakers. His filmography is as eclectic as it is surprising. The Verdict is Verheyen’s 12th film as a director, for which he also wrote the script. As a student already he started out as and film distributor before making his directorial debut in 1991 with the teen comedy Boys. The film became an indigenous commercial success and led to a stay in the US, resulting in the thriller The Little Death (1993). With Everything Must Go (1995), which became an art-house classic, Verheyen tackled the adaptation of Tom Lanoye’s novel. This was followed by a string of diverse films such as Team Spirit (2000), Alias (2001), Team Spirit 2 (2002), Gilles (2005), Missing Persons Unit (2007), Cut Loose (2008), Dossier K. (2009) and Crazy About Ya (2010). Verheyen also directed several episodes of crime series Missing Persons Unit, a spin-off from his 2007 feature.
