A filmmaker embarks on a search for his real family name. the name his family has been passing on from father to son is not the right one. Somewhere along his family history a father has given his name to a child that wasn’t his. The younger generation doesn’t know all the details and the elders keep their mouths shut. The first person he wants to talk to is his own father, with whom he’s always had difficulties communicating. The somewhat stubborn pater familias isn’t too pleased with his son’s endeavor, but in front of the camera they talk more than ever. Meanwhile, Poissonnier discovers many family secrets and feuds. ‘Walking back to happiness’ is an intimate but universal story, with a personal contemporary score.
