Flanders well represented at Rotterdam
A number of Flemish features, shorts, documentaries and TV series have been selected for this year’s International Film Festival Rotterdam (24 Jan-4 Feb).
Three features from Flanders have been selected for the Bright Futures section for emerging talent with original subject matter and an individual style. They are Ruben Desiere’s debut feature The Flower Shop; Christina Vandekerckhove’s documentary Rabot; and Kristof Hoornaert’s recently released debut feature Resurrection.
Resurrection gets international sales deal
Kristof Hoornaert’s debut feature, starring Johan Leysen and Gilles De Schryver, has been acquired by the Italian sales company TVCO. Resurrection had its world premiere at Film Fest Gent in October and its international premiere in the First Features Competition at the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn on 27 November.
Resurrection tells the story of an elderly recluse who takes a young man into his house after finding him half-naked and lost. The leading parts in Resurrection are played by Leysen and De Schryver. The film was shot by Lithuanian cinematographer Rimvydas Leipus
