This documentary examines the role of director Guido Gryseels and how he coped with the pressure of reopening his Africa Museum in Brussels before he retired.

synopsis

After five years of renovations, the Africa Museum in Brussels reopened its doors in December 2018. Under the scutiny of local and international press, director Guido Gryseels reintroduced the collection to the world. And, although the collection comprises 11,000 square metres, everyone will be scrutinising one chapter in particular: the part dedicated to Belgium's colonial history.
Na vijf jaar renovatie gaat in december 2018 onder het oog van de nationale en internationale pers het Africa Museum weer open. De druk op directeur Guido Gryseels is groot. Hoewel de heringerichte permanente collectie 11.000 vierkante meter beslaat, wordt met argusogen gekeken naar dat ene deel. Hoe gaat het museum om met zijn koloniale geschiedenis? Voor Gryseels is dit het sluitstuk van een levenswerk; de heropening betekent ook het begin van zijn pensioen.
