EN - Twins, a boy and a girl, are separated at birth. The girl grows up in a bourgeois home while her brother grows up in a street gang, neither knowing about the other’s existence. Twelve years later their paths cross again and they discover their common destiny, imposed on them by adults. This is the beginning of an exciting journey to discover their roots and search for their independence. But neither is able to escape their past…

Galloping Mind and The Land of the Enlightened in Karlovy Vary

In addition to Felix van Groeningen’s Belgica and the short film Flower of a Thousand Colours, the line-up of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (1-9 July) also includes Wim Vandekeybus’s Galloping Mind and The Land of the Enlightened by Pieter-Jan De Pue. Geoffrey Enthoven’s 2011 hit Come As You Are has also been picked for one the festival’s thematic sections.

Galloping MindGalloping Mind is part of ‘Another View’, a collection of notable contemporary films. In Vandekeybus’s feature, a twin brother and sister are separated at birth, neither knowing about the other’s existence. Pieter-Jan De Pue’s The Land of the Enlightened is scheduled to screen in the 'Horizons' section.

Talent from Flanders represented at the Berlinale

There was another strong presence from Flanders at this year’s International Film Festival in Berlin (11-21 February). Actress Martha Canga Antonio took the stage as one of 10 European Shooting Stars; foreign films starring Veerle Baetens and Jan Bijvoet were in the line-up; four film professionals from Flanders were picked for the Berlinale Talents initiative; and a variety of Flemish (co-)productions screened in the European Film Market.

BlackMartha Canga Antonio was one of 10 European Shooting Stars in the spotlight during the Berlinale. The actress made an international impact with her debut role as Mavela in Black, a contemporary Romeo & Juliet story directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Previous Shooting Stars have included Matthias Schoenaerts, Alicia Vikander, Carey Mulligan and Daniel Brühl.

Flanders Image presents "Talent 10 Watch" 2015

Autumn  2015 is set to become the busiest season ever for Flemish cinema. 10 Flemish filmmakers will present their first or second feature in the days, weeks and months to come. To celebrate their success, Flanders Image brought the 10 directors together for a photo shoot at Vilvoorde-based camera and lighting rental company Lites.

New Flemish features to be launched in Les Arcs

Pieter Van Hees’s Waste Land has been selected for Official Competition at the European Film Festival in Les Arcs, France (13-20 December). Bas Devos’s feature debut Violet and Benoit De Clerck’s short film The Hunger are also part of the official line-up. Flemish projects to be discovered in the professional programme are Kenneth Mercken’s Coureur and Galloping Mind by Wim Vandekeybus. Finally, three new feature films from Flanders - Black, Belgian Rhapsody and again Waste Land - will be pitched to an audience of distributors and cinema owners from France.

BlackWaste Land, Black and Belgian Rhapsody will be presented during the Les Arcs Summit, a yearly programme that reunites independent distributors and industry professionals focusing on the exhibition of European films in France and made up of a number of films scheduled for a 2015 release.
