An intimate and inside perspective on the Calais 'jungle', evoked through a polyphony of men, tales and atmospheres. A sensory journey through the social life and survival strategies of migrants. A film of wind and despair, of fire and solidarity, of hope and hell. Sharing the daily life of migrants, on numerous visits during the entire duration of the jungle, and often using a collaborative methodology (images and narrations partly produced by the migrants), director Laurent Van Lancker presents a film that is both poetical and political, evoking an untold and internal perception on the faculty of adaptation and the social life of migrants.
Een intieme blik van binnenuit op de 'Jungle van Calais', doorheen een polyfonie van mensen, verhalen en sferen. Een zintuiglijke reis door het sociale leven en de overlevingsstrategieën van migranten. Een film over wind en wanhoop, vuur en solidariteit, hoop en hel. Regisseur Laurent Van Lancker deelde tijdens meerdere bezoeken het dagelijkse leven met de migranten in de jungle, meestal gebruik makend van een gezamenlijke methodologie (met beelden en vertellingen deels geproduceerd door de migranten zelf). Hij presenteert een film die poëtisch en politiek is en roept een onvertelde en innerlijke waarneming op van het aanpassingsvermogen en sociale leven van migranten.
