A soldier goes to the front during World War I, whose horrors make him realise that the enemy is actually war itself. He is transformed into a modern soldier, making the viewer realise there is only one real enemy: 'modern war'; and only one goal: peace.
Een strijd om vrede portretteert een soldaat die tijdens WOI ten strijde trekt. De gruwelijkheden van de oorlog doen hem al vlug beseffen dat de vijand eigenlijk in de oorlog zelf schuilt. De getuigende soldaat verandert van gedaante, in een moderne soldaat, en neemt de kijker mee doorheen de tijd. Er rest hem maar één echte vijand, de “moderne oorlog” zelf en één streefdoel, vrede. De getuigenis van deze soldaat staat als metafoor voor de verschrikkelijke wreedheid van oorlog en het verlangen naar of nood aan vrede.
