synopsis

Adoration is the story of Paul, a lonely 14-year-old boy whose mother is a housekeeper in a psychiatric clinic. A new patient arrives at the clinic: the exuberant 15-year-old Gloria. Paul immediately falls in love with her and they both run away from the adult world to join the "oasis of peace" described by Gloria: her grandfather's house on the pink coast of Brittany.
Adoration, c’est l’histoire de Paul, un jeune garçon solitaire de 14 ans. Sa mère est femme de ménage dans une clinique psychiatrique. Son père les a quittés il y a déjà très longtemps. Une nouvelle patiente arrive à la clinique. Elle s’appelle Gloria, une jeune adolescente de 15 ans, trouble et solaire. Paul va tomber amoureux fou. Si amoureux qu’il va s’enfuir avec elle, loin du monde des adultes, pour rejoindre le « havre de paix » décrit par Gloria : la maison de son grand-père, sur la côte de granit rose en Bretagne.
Adolescents à la dérive sur les canaux de la Meuse, fuyant ce monde qui les effraie, rassurés par la douce présence du murmure du fleuve, les voici embarqués pour un voyage vers un pays où l’on n’arrive jamais…
Adoration is het verhaal van Paul, een eenzame 14-jarige jongen. Zijn moeder is huishoudster in een psychiatrische kliniek. Zijn vader heeft hen lang geleden verlaten. Een nieuwe patiënte arriveert in de kliniek. Haar naam is Gloria, een 15-jarig meisje, onrustig en vrolijk. Paul wordt meteen stapelverliefd op haar. Zo verliefd dat hij met haar wegloopt, weg van de volwassen wereld, om zich aan te sluiten bij de door Gloria beschreven "oase van rust": het huis van haar grootvader aan de roze kust van Bretagne.
Adolescenten driftend op de grachten van de Maas, op de vlucht voor de wereld die hen bang maakt, gerustgesteld door de zachte aanwezigheid van het gemurmel van de rivier. Ze beginnen aan een reis naar een land waar ze nooit aankomen...
