When his father decides to move from the Netherlands to a posh gated community in Istanbul, 14-year-old Zeki befriends a group of children from the neighbouring slum.

synopsis

Fourteen-year-old free runner Zeki seems carefree, but in reality he struggles with the recent loss of his mother. When his father wants to exchange Rotterdam for Istanbul, Zeki's life is once again turned upside down. The new house in Istanbul is fully equipped, but it is located in a compound, and the porter has been instructed not to let the children who live there go outside unsupervised. It’s far too dangerous. Then Zeki finds a way over the wall, and Istanbul opens up before him. While free running, he discovers the city, and befriends Kemal, a boy from a poor neighbourhood. Will it be a fun summer after all?
De 14-jarige freerunner Zeki lijkt zorgeloos, maar worstelt in werkelijkheid met het verlies van zijn moeder, niet lang geleden. Wanneer zijn vader Rotterdam wil verruilen voor Istanbul wordt Zeki’s leven opnieuw ondersteboven gehaald. Het nieuwe huis in Istanbul is van alle gemakken voorzien, maar ligt in een compound, en de portier heeft de opdracht gekregen de kinderen die daar wonen niet zonder begeleiding naar buiten te laten gaan. Veel te gevaarlijk. Tot Zeki een manier vindt om over de muur heen te klimmen, en Istanbul voor hem openligt. Al freerunnend ontdekt hij de stad, en raakt hij bevriend met Kemal, een jongen uit de varos (arme buurt). Wordt het dan toch nog een leuke zomer?
