synopsis

Jack and Leila are part of a group of activists in Berlin who are strongly committed to the pro-Palestinian movement. As the space for protest narrows, they face surveillance, censorship, police violence and are threatened with deportation. In this climate, they are working on a stage performance based on Larry Mitchell’s The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions, a queer utopian manifesto in the form of a fable. As rehearsals progress, the text from the seventies increasingly blurs with their own reality.
Jack et Leila font partie d'un groupe de militants berlinois engagés dans le mouvement propalestinien. Leur espace de contestation se resserre progressivement sous l'effet de la surveillance, des répressions policières et de la menace d'expulsion du territoire. Confrontés à ce contexte tendu, ils créent une performance inspirée du livre de Larry Mitchell Les pédales et leurs ami·es entre les révolutions, un manifeste queer utopique sous forme de fable. À mesure que leur spectacle se façonne, le texte des années 70 se confond peu à peu avec leur propre réalité.
Jack en Leila maken deel uit van een groep activisten in Berlijn die zich intensief inzetten voor de pro-Palestina-beweging. Terwijl de ruimte voor protest steeds kleiner wordt, krijgen ze te maken met surveillance, censuur en politiegeweld en worden ze bedreigd met deportatie. Ondertussen werken ze aan een performance gebaseerd op Larry Mitchells The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions, een utopisch queer manifest in de vorm van een fabel. Naarmate de repetities vorderen, raakt de tekst uit de jaren zeventig steeds meer verweven met hun eigen werkelijkheid.
