synopsis

Lotte is 15 and looking forward to her sweet sixteenth birthday. She’s had a difficult year. Her self-esteem has been damaged by a toxic friendship with Astrid, the school’s überbabe and leader of the popular girls. At home, there’s an unexpected development: her parents are separating. Her mom is in love with another woman – Jo, the guidance counsellor in Lotte’s school – and the mother of… Astrid. In the meantime, hormones are raging, bashful love is budding, sexual identities are being explored and existential dilemmas confronted. Who am I? Where am I going? Is there a point to it all?
Lotte is een tiener van 15 die uitkijkt naar haar 'sweet sixteen'. Ze heeft een moeilijk jaar achter de rug. Haar zelfbeeld is beschadigd door een toxische relatie met Astrid, de überbabe van de school en leidster van de populaire meisjes. Ook thuis is er commotie: haar ouders gaan uit elkaar. Haar moeder is verliefd op een andere vrouw. En niet zomaar een andere vrouw: Jo is leerlingenbegeleidster in haar school, maar ook de moeder van… Astrid. Ondertussen razen hormonen door lichamen en worden de dagen gekleurd door ontluikende liefdes, zoektochten naar seksuele identiteit, puberale existentiële twijfels – Wat wil ik met mijn leven? Wat eten we vanavond? – en de routine van het schoolleven.
