This documentary on the large-scale fraud with meat describes the mafia-like structures founded by some meat traders, to make huge profits with fraudulent import and export-restitutions paid by the European Commission. A pentiti explains how the system works. An ex-employee tells her breathtaking experience of terror on the factory-floor where illegally imported meat was transformed into European meat. A shipping-agent explains that the fraud cannot be stopped without the collapse of the entire European transport sector. A Russian meat importer went almost bankrupt when he bought a load of meat which appeared not to be suited for human consumption. Kanakna's team bought 4 metric tons of American meat, confiscated by customs officials, undercover. It was very easy to buy this load and sell it in the EU. Bloody Meat is a story of the bewildering reality of what will be one of the biggest scandals of the nineties.
Ce documentaire sur la fraude de viande à grande échelle décrit les structures mafieuses fondées par certains marchands de viande, afin de faire de grands bénéfices avec des pratiques frauduleuses sur les restitutions, sur l’import et l’export, payées par la Commission européenne. Un repenti explique comment le système fonctionne. Une ancienne employée raconte son expérience de terreur effarante dans un atelier où de la viande illégalement importée est transformée en viande Européenne. Un expéditeur maritime explique que la fraude ne peut être stoppée sans l’effondrement du secteur du transport européen dans son ensemble. Un importateur de viande russe fit pratiquement faillite lorsqu’il importa une cargaison de viande qui s’avéra impopre à la consommation pour les humains. L’équipe de Kanakna importa 4 tonnes de viande américaine, confisquée par des agents de douane clandestins. Il était très facile d’acheter cette viande et de la vendre en Europe. Bloody Meat est l’histoire d’une réalité déconcertante de ce qui deviendra l’un des plus gros scandales des années 90.
