synopsis

The Jewish National Fund's Blue Boxes were part of a successful fundraising campaign to support the purchase of land in Palestine. Joseph Weits, the filmmaker's grandfather, was the man who orchestrated the acquisition and expropriation of Palestinian lands. Weits's private diaries reveal an uncomfortable truth.
En Israël tout le monde connait les « Boîtes Bleues » qui ont servi dans les années 50 à collecter des fonds pour l'achat de terres en palestine. Joseph Weits, le grand-père de la cinéaste est connu pour avoir planté des millions d’arbres, moins pour avoir orchestré l'expropriation des terres palestiniennes. ses journaux intimes révèlent une vérité inconfortable.
Als het hoofd van het Joods Nationaal Fonds, van 1932 tot 1970, was mijn overgrootvader Joseph Weits verantwoordelijk voor het verwerven en later onteigenen van Palestijnse grond voor het Joodse volk. In zijn 5000 pagina's tellende dagboek deed hij een oprecht en persoonlijk relaas van de geheime geschiedenis achter een eeuwenoud geschil over grond en tegenstrijdige verhalen.
