Born of Violence explores a complex question with sensitivity, drawing on the experience of director Phillip James McGoldrick, who was himself conceived from rape. The dance depicts the inescapable traumas experienced by both mother and child, and a yearning to draw resolution from hidden grief. These themes are powerfully and humanely portrayed by performers Ezi Ogbonna and Modest Mulenga, bringing to life the visceral choreography of Lea Oroz.
