Brimstone is een gewelddadig epos, een verhaal over krachtige vrouwelijkheid en over het verzet tegen de aardse wreedheid. Liv leidt een gelukkig leven met haar man en kinderen. Wanneer het dorp een nieuwe dominee krijgt - een kwaadaardige fanatiekeling, komt daar abrupt verandering in. Liz is echter een overlever, geen slachtoffer maar een daadkrachtige vrouw die met verbazingwekkende moed een beter leven opeist voor haar en haar gezin.
