Après des années d’absence, Lola, la diseuse de bonne aventure et Louis, son compagnon, replantent leur tente dans le village de Verbrande Brug. Louis avait auparavant une relation avec Monique, une femme du village, qui entraîna la naissance de leur fille, Christine, aujourd’hui âgée de 7 ans. La guerre est à nouveau déclarée, lorsque Monique veut récupérer Louis.
