synopsis

Les enfants de l'amour shows us a weekend in the life of a family torn by disputes and dissapointments. The three children Michael, Winnie and Aurelie are the central characters. After two failed marriages, their mother Nathalie is on her own. The mother and the children are forced to adapt to the new situation the fathers equally try to come to terms with what happened. The story starts Friday morning, the children are getting ready to visit their respective fathers for the weekend. In a documentary style, the film draws the portrait of these six complex characters who are dealing with questions of blame, loyalty and affection.
Les enfants de l’amour nous montre un week-end dans la vie d’une famille tiraillée par les disputes et les déceptions. Michael, Winnie et Aurélie, les trois enfants, sont les personnages centraux. Après trois mariages soldés par un échec, leur mère, Nathalie, se retrouve seule. La mère et les enfants sont obligés de s’adapter à la nouvelle situation. Les pères, eux aussi, essaient de composer avec ce qu’il s’est passé. L’histoire commence le vendredi matin. Les enfants se préparent à rendre visite à leur père respectif durant le week-end. Dans un style de documentaire, le film dresse le portrait de ces six personnes complexes qui font face à des questions de blâme, de loyauté et d’affection.
Les enfants de l'amour portretteert zes familieleden die elk op hun manier omgaan met vragen over loyaliteit en liefde. Michael, Winnie en Aurelie zijn drie kinderen van gescheiden ouders. Het is vrijdagochtend en ze zijn klaar om het weekend met hun vaders door te brengen. Winnie (12) lijdt onder de moeilijke relatie die ze heeft met haar vader en gebrek aan affectie van haar stiefvader. Voor Michael (9) is zijn vader een echte held en hij geeft zijn stiefvader de schuld voor de scheiding. Aurelie (5), hun jongere zus, is heel blij om haar vader te zien en begrijpt niet waarom haar broer en zus haar enthousiasme niet delen. Een ontroerend verhaal over emotionele moeilijkheden van gebroken families.
