synopsis

What an elephant-sized colossal catastrophe! First the humans cover their island with high-rises and factories until it resembles a dump rather than a natural paradise. And then they want to scurry away as soon as problems arise. Plus, the animals' island is in danger of sinking into the ocean: every day, the water rises a little higher, covering more land, and it seems doom is only days away. For the humans, this is not a problem; they decide to build a big ship and sail off to find themselves a new island. But what about all those animals that live on the other island? Lion King Leonardo promises that he will make sure that all the animals are saved. But the little caterpillar Hugo and his best friend, the giraffe Olli, are convinced that this is just a rumour. Humans have never cared about the animals; why should that be any different now?
Een kolossale catastrofe zo groot als een olifant! Eerst bedekken de mensen hun eiland met wolkenkrabbers en fabrieken tot het meer weg heeft van een vuilnisbelt dan van een natuurparadijs. En dan, wanneer problemen de kop opsteken, willen ze er zo snel mogelijk vandoor gaan. Bovendien loopt het diereneiland gevaar om in de oceaan weg te zinken: elke dag stijgt het water een beetje en telkens neemt het meer land in, alsof het nog maar enkele dagen duurt tot de ondergang. Voor de mensen is dit geen probleem: ze beslissen om een groot schip te bouwen en op zoek te gaan naar een nieuw eiland. Maar wat met alle dieren die op het andere eiland leven? Leeuwenkoning Leonardo belooft ervoor te zorgen dat alle dieren gered worden. Maar de kleine rups Hugo en zijn beste vriend, giraf Olli, zijn ervan overtuigd dat dit slechts een gerucht is. De mensen hebben nooit wat gegeven om de dieren; waarom zou het nu anders zijn?
