On their way home, Dr. Vlimmen and his friend have an argument, that takes us back to something that has happened in the 20's. Back then Vlimmen and Dacka were working in a little town. Dacka as a poor lawyer, and Vlimmen as a young veterinarian, hoping for a steady job at the city abattoir.

synopsis

On their way home, Dr. Vlimmen and his friend have an argument, that takes us back to something that has happened in the 20's. Back then Vlimmen and Dacka were working in a little town. Dacka as a poor lawyer, and Vlimmen as a young veterinarian, hoping for a steady job at the city abattoir. But Vlimmen sees his chances fade to nothing, when he's accused of raping his young servant who is now pregnant. When the matter is brought to court, his friend Dacka defends the girl, which divides the two friends. However, Dacka finds the real father, clearing Vlimmen of all charges. But his joy is overshadowed when his sister marries and immigrates to Canada. He can only find comfort in his friendship with Dacka.Based on the work of A. Roothaert
Sur le chemin du retour à la maison, Dr Vlimmen et son ami se disputent, ce qui nous ramène à un événement qui s'est produit dans les années 20. Vlimmen et Dacka travaillent alors dans une petite ville. Dacka en tant que pauvre avocat et Vlimmen en tant que jeune vétérinaire, espérant décrocher un job à temps plein dans les abattoirs de la ville. Mais Vlimmen voit ses chances s’évanouir lorsqu’il est accusé de viol sur sa jeune servante, désormais enceinte. Lorsque l’affaire est portée devant le tribunal, Dacka défend la jeune fille, ce qui sépare les deux amis. Cependant, Dacka découvre le véritable coupable, levant les accusations sur Vlimmen. Mais la joie de ce dernier est ombragée lorsque sa sœur se marie et émigre au Canada. Il arrive seulement à trouver du réconfort auprès de son ami Dacka.
