synopsis

Don't Take It Personally is an experimental film that probes a spectrum of human responses, ranging from the banality of evil to complicity, all through the lens of human indifference. Employing a longue durée approach, the film examines social cleavages by connecting the present moment to historically and culturally distinctive periods, such as the Renaissance in the Low Countries and the Dutch Golden Age.
Don't Take It Personally est une exploration cinématographique des changements subtils dans le comportement des individus et des groupes en période de troubles sociaux. Ce film expérimental explore un éventail de réactions humaines, allant de la banalité du mal à la complicité, le tout à travers le prisme de l'indifférence humaine. Utilisant une approche de longue durée, le film examine les clivages sociaux en reliant le moment présent à des périodes historiquement et culturellement distinctes, telles que la Renaissance dans les Pays-Bas et l'Âge d'or néerlandais.
Don't Take It Personally is een cinematografische verkenning van de subtiele verschuivingen in individueel en collectief gedrag in tijden van maatschappelijke onrust. De experimentele film tast een scala aan menselijke reacties af in verschillende gradaties van onverschilligheid – van banaal kwaad tot medeplichtigheid. Hedendaagse sociale breuklijnen worden in hun ‘longue durée’ geplaatst, door ze te verbinden met cultuurhistorische periodes als de Renaissance in de Lage Landen en de Nederlandse Gouden Eeuw.
