Shot unofficially on smartphones, Dry Branches of Iran features a group of Iranian actors who wish to remain anonymous and whose faces are never in frame.

synopsis

One day, a young dancer wakes up in an Iranian prison cell without any recollection of how he ended up there. Slowly, he starts remembering what happened to him and, in doing so, we get a glimpse of the current explosive political situation in Iran and the Middle East.
Un jeune danseur se réveille dans la cellule d'une prison iranienne, sans le moindre souvenir de comment il est arrivé là. Peu à peu, il se souvient de ce qui lui est arrivé et, ce faisant, nous nous trouvons plongés dans le dangereux contexte actuel de l'Iran et de l'ensemble du Moyen-Orient. Le film a entièrement été tourné de manière clandestine sur smartphones. Les scènes sont jouées par des acteurs iraniens qui souhaitent rester anonymes; c'est la raison pour laquelle leur visage n'apparaît pas à l'écran.
