Growing up on an island, nature is a familiar stranger.

synopsis

Underneath the searchlight of the Amelands lighthouse, teenage girls Indy, Emma and Myrte are finding their way into adulthood. Nature is a familiar stranger, just like Indy’s older cousin who takes the girls fishing. When he drunkenly joyrides through the dunes, accidentally killing a rabbit, the bath becomes clouded with seawater and the barnacles seem to whisper.
Onder het zoeklicht van de Amelander-vuurtoren groeien de tieners Indy, Emma en Myrte op. De natuur is een vreemde bekende, net als de oudere neef die de meisjes mee uit vissen neemt. Wanneer deze, door de duinen scheurend, een konijn doodrijdt, vertroebelt het badwater met de zee en lijken de zeepokken te fluisteren.
