10-year-old Eric has to make a presentation at school, but he still does not have a subject. His grandfather - who has helped look after the boy since Eric's father passed away - offers to help. Together they look at an old painting about the world of insects.

synopsis

10-year-old Eric has to make a presentation at school, but he still does not have a subject. His grandfather - who has helped look after the boy since Eric's father passed away - offers to help. Together they look at an old painting about the world of insects. Later that night Eric goes to look at the painting again and suddenly gets drawn into it. Being tiny himself now, he lives among the insects for one long night. He finds out a lot about the small animals, but also about life itself and how to come to terms with it.
Eric, 10 ans, doit préparer un exposé pour l’école mais n’a toujours pas trouvé de sujet. Son grand-père - qui a participé à l’éducation du garçon depuis la mort de son père - lui propose son aide. Ensemble, ils observent une vieille peinture représentant le monde des insectes. Plus tard cette nuit-là, Eric observe la peinture une nouvelle fois, et est soudainement happé dans celle-ci. Etant désormais une version miniature de lui-même, Eric vit parmi les insectes tout au long d’une longue nuit. Il découvre de nombreuses choses à propos de ces petits animaux, mais aussi à propos de la vie en elle-même, et comment affronter celle-ci.
