A polyphonic collaboration between artist-filmmaker Manon de Boer and choreographer-dancer Latifa Laâbissi, subtly questioning the politics of language and identity.

synopsis

Since 2015 Manon de Boer and Latifa Laâbissi have been in continuous dialogue about the numerous voices that inhabit their thinking and their bodies. During a long process of exchange and ‘cannibalising’, the performance Ghost Party (1) and the film Ghost Party (2) were created. In Ghost Party (2), De Boer and Laâbissi create little fictions with vases, stones and other materials, while giving voice to texts of ‘ghosts’ from their shared genealogies, such as Marguerite Duras, Serge Daney, Casey, and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro.
Sinds 2015 zijn kunstenares-filmmaakster Manon de Boer en choreografe-danseres Latifa Laâbissi in dialoog over de vele stemmen die hun denken en lichaam bewonen. In een proces van uitwisseling en ‘kannibalisering’ ontstonden zowel de performance Ghost Party (1) als de film Ghost Party (2). In een continu spel met vazen, steentjes en andere materialen creëren De Boer en Laâbissi in de film kleine ficties, terwijl ze stem geven aan teksten van ‘geesten’ uit hun gedeelde genealogieën zoals Marguerite Duras, Serge Daney, Casey en Eduardo Viveiros de Castro. De polyfonie van stemmen en accenten vermengt hun eigen wezen met andere en subtiel ondervragen ze zo de politiek van taal en identiteit.
