A neglected family house in Paramaribo, Surinam. Almost 50 years ago, not long after being built, the house was left by a Surinam family who moved to The Netherlands. For good, it turned out. Today the house is a subtle reminder of the bond that the family still has with their country of birth.
Een verwaarsloosde gezinswoning in Paramaribo, Suriname. Bijna 50 jaar geleden, niet lang nadat het gebouw werd, werd het huis achtergelaten door een Surinaams gezin dat naar Nederland verhuisde. Voorgoed, zo bleek. Vandaag is het huis een vage herinnering aan de band die het gezin nog steeds heeft met hun geboorteland. Memre Yu is een poëtische documentaire over identiteit, migratie en vergankelijke herinneringen.
