synopsis

"Inclusive education is like teaching children without arms and legs to swim", said a Belgian politician. The general Flemish education system can no longer refuse to accept pupils who have disabilities, handicaps and who require extra care. The M-Decree obliges schools adapt to the needs of children. Everybody has an opinion about it, but the missing voices are those of the children and their parents. Inclusive observes, in beautiful black and white, four children with different special needs going to a normal school. A carefully made, cinematic film that offers an intimate insight into the lives of the four children: Rosie, Sami, Irakli and Nathan.
Inclusive concerne quatre enfants ayant des besoins éducatifs spéciaux qui suivent des cours dans l'enseignement ordinaire. Ce documentaire d'observation n'a pas pour objectif de déterminer si l'éducation inclusive fonctionne ou non. Le film tente de donner une voix à Irakli, Sami, Rosie et Nathan. Ils montrent l'impact de l'éducation inclusive sur leur situation.
Inclusief gaat over vier kinderen met speciale onderwijsbehoeften die les volgen in het gewoon onderwijs. In deze observerende documentaire gaat het er niet over of inclusief onderwijs al dan niet werkt. De film tracht Irakli, Sami, Rosie en Nathan een stem te geven. Ze tonen hoe inclusief onderwijs bij hen werkt.
