synopsis

In Bas's world, the voices desperately trying to contact him amount to little more than background noise. Sometimes they breach the decaying rooms he inhabits, but they fail to break down the walls surrounding him. That leaves Bas adrift in a twilight zone between delusion and reality, between response and isolation. Kopschuif is a unique collaboration between Roel Goyens and activist theatre company Tartaren. In a place where communication is a challenge, Kopschuif encourages a debate that brings together the patient, mental therapists and the film's audience.
In de wereld van Bas zijn de stemmen die wanhopig contact zoeken in het beste geval achtergrondgeluiden. De gemuilkorfde pogingen slaan wel af en toe een kleine bres in de bouwval die hem permanent insluit, maar de muren slopen zit er nooit echt in. Bas zweeft in de schemerzone tussen waan en werkelijkheid, tussen respons en isolement. In Kopschuif gaat Roel Goyens een samenwerking aan met sociaal-artistiek theatergezelschap Cie Tartaren. Puttend uit het psychiatrisch verleden van de acteurs en uit gesprekken met specialisten dompelt de regisseur de kijker onder in een surreële wereld, die voor een handvol getormenteerde zielen wel eens bittere realiteit kan zijn. Op een plek waar communicatie een uitdaging is, opent Kopschuif een debat dat de patiënt, de hulpverlener en de kijker dichter bij elkaar brengt.
