synopsis

Four seasons reign in the armpit of the mighty Scheldt, the centre of post-industrialised western Europe. Amid the vast fields and meadows, the 800 residents of a small village live their daily lives according to the natural rhythm of the land.
Het gat in de tijd is een schilderachtige stille film die baadt in traagheid. Hij staat in alle opzichten haaks op de jachtigheid van ons moderne bestaan. Het Zeeuws-Vlaamse dorp Graauw met zijn 800 inwoners is een tijdsenclave in de moderniteit, ademend op het ritme van de seizoenen. Gewassen en jaargetijden zijn de hoofdrolspelers in deze poetische documentaire. Het cyclische van het leven, van mens en natuur met heel af en toe een uitspatting, een feest, carnaval. Het gat in de tijd voert de toeschouwer terug naar die oorspronkelijke ritmiek van mens en tijd.
