synopsis

Red Love uses the figure of Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952), a Marxist theorist and Soviet revolutionary, radical feminist and sexual activist, as a guide to the labyrinth of female freedom, sexual emancipation, and love as weapon. The film seeks to make the necessary connections in a complex narrative bridging an ocean from Moscow to Mexico, from 20th Century socialist feminism to 21st Century Latin American transfeminisms, from the promise of revolution to the final fulfilment of that promise.
Amor Rojo (Red Love) utilise la figure d'Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952), théoricienne marxiste et révolutionnaire soviétique, féministe radicale et militante sexuelle, comme guide pour parcourir le labyrinthe de la liberté féminine, de l'émancipation sexuelle et de l'amour comme arme. Le film cherche à établir les liens nécessaires dans un récit complexe reliant un océan de Moscou au Mexique, du féminisme socialiste du XXe siècle aux transféminismes latino-américains du XXIe siècle, de la promesse de la révolution à la réalisation finale de cette promesse.
Amor Rojo (Red Love) gebruikt de figuur van Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952), een marxistische theoreticus en sovjetrevolutionair, radicaal feministe en seksueel activist, als gids om het labyrint te bewandelen van vrouwelijke vrijheid, seksuele emancipatie en liefde als wapen. De film brengt een complexe vertelling die een oceaan overbrugt van Moskou tot Mexico, van het socialistische feminisme van de 20ste eeuw tot het transfeminisme van de 21ste eeuw in Latijns-Amerika, van de belofte van revolutie tot de uiteindelijke vervulling van die belofte.
