synopsis

Mariken is set in the Middle Ages and is about a girl who gets to know the world in seven days, and is based on the novel 'Mariken' by Peter Van Gestel. The old eccentric Archibald is chased out of town by the proud Magister Aesculaap (the counsel and family doctor of the Countess). Archibald, who wasn't all that interseted in the human race anyway, withdraws with his goat Sophie into Waanwoud. There, among the flowers, Archibald finds a baby. She is a little girl. On her jacket, scrawled in blood, are the words Care for Mariken. Archibald takes the girl under his wing.
Mariken se déroule au Moyen Age et raconte l’histoire d’une fille qui apprend à connaître le monde en sept jours et est inspiré du roman Mariken écrit par Peter Van Gestel. Le vieux et excentrique Archibald est chassé de la ville par le fier Maître Aesculaap (le conseillé et docteur de famille de la comtesse). Archibald, qui n’était de toute façon pas si intéressé que ça par la race humaine, se retranche avec sa chèvre Sophie dans le Waanwoud. Là-bas, parmi les fleurs, Archibald trouve un bébé. C’est une petite fille. Sur sa couverture, sont inscrits avec du sang les mots « prenez soin de Mariken ». Archibald prend la petite fille sous son aile.
