synopsis

Milano is a mute 11-year-old boy who uses sign language. In a social housing project, he is raised by his father who himself grew up in an institution and therefore doesn't really know how to raise a child. Milano has the opportunity to live with Renée, a wealthy woman from a neighbouring residential area who seems to have everything figured out. Then his mother suddenly returns from her long absence...
Milano gaat over een jongen van elf die niet kan praten maar wel kan horen en zich moet uitdrukken aan de hand van gebarentaal. Hij wordt opgevoed door zijn vader die zelf opgroeide in een instelling en daarom niet echt weet hoe je dat moet doen: een jong kind opvoeden. Ze wonen in een sociale woonwijk en trachten met vallen en opstaan er het beste van te maken. Milano kan, als hij weer eens alleen thuis is, terecht bij Renée, een rijke vrouw uit de naburige villawijk die schijnbaar alles voor elkaar heeft. En dan komt zijn moeder plots terug van altijd weggeweest: niets is meer hetzelfde.
