synopsis

Meet Jerry, an obsessive but frustrated director who decides to turn his back on the theatre in favour of a controversial new project. But things soon start to go wrong. As he struggles with the demands of his role as leader, he is plagued by surreal dreams conjured up by his guilty conscience. The title of the film refers to the Dutch description of urban myths as 'monkey sandwich stories'.
Jerry est un metteur en scène obsessionnel mais insatisfait qui décide de tourner le dos au théâtre pour se lancer dans un nouveau projet controversé. Mais très vite, les choses tournent mal. Alors qu’il s’efforce de répondre aux exigences de son rôle de chef, il est tourmenté par des rêves surréalistes engendrés par sa mauvaise conscience.
Monkey Sandwich est un film composé de plusieurs histoires s’entrelaçant qui impliquent la recherche d’un enfant à naître, une expédition de chasse bouleversante, un 33 tours hanté, un porcelet qui grogne,... Le titre du film fait référence à l’expression néerlandaise “ sandwich au singe”, utilisée pour décrire les légendes urbaines.
