synopsis

EN - While wandering through the night, director Alex (27) searches for the essence of his film. He seems to have lost his inspiration, along with his girlfriend (Anna) who has walked out on him. Why? What happened? Where did it all go wrong? The more he wanders Alex is convinced that the essence of his film concerns a struggle between love and ambition. But slowly we get to learn that he is finding difficulties balancing the disappointing reality (the world in front of his eyes) and his imagination (the world behind his eyes). Meanwhile, the dividing line between fiction and reality becomes increasingly turbid. Is Alex entangled in his own film?
De opnames gaan bijna van start, maar Alex (27) heeft nog geen idee wat de essentie van zijn film is. Zwervend door de nacht komt het moment dat hij ergens mee moet komen steeds dichterbij, maar alle inspiratie heeft hem verlaten. Net als zijn vriendin, die zijn geworstel niet meer kon aanzien. De tijd tikt weg, de producenten zitten hem op de hielen en de grens tussen fictie en realiteit vervaagt met de minuut. Zit Alex vast in zijn eigen film? Of is het zijn alter ego?
Nocturne is een 'film noir' over de liefde, over volwassen worden, deadlines en inspiratie. Theatraal, sentimenteel, jeugdig, komisch, muzikaal, ambitieus. Een speelse tragedie over een hopeloze romanticus en zijn poging tot film.
